"Pooram" day is the day when the moon rises with the Pooram star. People celebrate pooram despite their religious differences. The participants in this festival are divided into two major groups, the east and the west, and the celebrations begin 7 days before the main "Pooram".
What I witnessed myself, was instead, a mini version of one of the towns participating in this great celebration. The purpose was to celebrate and show to the people the contribution that this town will proudly bring to the big event that will be held later. Here there were about fourty elephants dressed in golden headdresses and sacred bells and a large number of musicians intent on playing many different instruments. These, together with a large crowd, created an atmosphere alive and energetic... and certainly very colorful too.
